ExSSA-Washington DC Metro Impact Day

dc_outreach

We showed up bright and early in the morning with several of our children in tow to the Fairfax Presbyterian church which hosts the project. Each of us brought along several bags of supplies including travel size toothpastes, deodorants, disposable razors, anti-bacterial wipes, combs, pre-paid phone cards, nail clippers/files, dental floss, cotton swabs, mouthwash, chap-sticks, shampoos, hand lotions and other essential hygiene products to make care backpacks for soldiers who have been injured during service. For three hours, our EXSSA DC family worked together to organize these packages. We sang as we worked with joy in our hearts and also enjoyed quality time. We made 100 bags which will leave for Afghanistan 04/06/2014 evening! I know we were all deeply moved by this experience. ‘It feels so good to give back’ said Mary Tabot, Vice President EXSSA USA. ‘I have such deep fulfillment just knowing that we are touching the lives of service men and women’ said Chantal Gwannulla Nchanji, EXSSA DC Assistant Chaplain. ‘Love, Unity and Sisterhood’ is a beautiful thing’ said Lillian Ndoke, EXSSA DC Assistant Music Prefect. We also took time to make a personalized card for a wounded soldier who had just arrived home, and lives nearby to where we were working. Cicily Ade’s daughter said ‘it feels so good to give back!’. Sis Ekoke’s son our young paparazzi professional had fun with his service. We’re already looking forward to our next impact day! Long live EXSSA USA!
