International Day of the Girl Child 2026, and this year's theme is “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights!”
October 11 marks the International Day of the Girl Child, and this year's theme is “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights!”
But for girls to understand, claim, and advocate for their rights, they must first find their voices and develop the confidence to use them. Writing is one powerful way to nurture that confidence, helping girls articulate their thoughts, tell their stories, and speak up for themselves.
It is in this spirit that ExSSA USA, in collaboration with WriteGirl Inc., is commemorating this year's celebration with a virtual writing workshop titled “Her Story. Her Voice.” at Saker Baptist College today, Thursday, October 8, 2026.
The workshop, currently underway, is being facilitated by experts from WriteGirl Inc. and brings together Saker students and girls from other parts of the world, including Afghanistan and Kenya, to explore the power of writing, storytelling, and self-expression.
Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering girls with the confidence to express themselves, advocate for their rights, and shape their futures.
Every girl has a story worth telling, a voice worth hearing, and rights worth defending.
