ExSSA LA Celebrates Culture through service-2025

On May 10, 2025, members of ExSSA LA proudly volunteered at the annual AYSO 1031 Cultural Day, a vibrant event that brings together the South LA community for a morning of cultural celebration through food, music, dance, and storytelling.
As part of the festivities, community members were invited to prepare a traditional dish representing a culture of their choice, dress in cultural attire, bring a flag, and share a song, fun fact, phrase, or dance that reflects their selected heritage. The ExSSA LA « Hollywood STARZ » not only showcased delicious cuisine from Cameroon, but also served community members and young soccer players throughout the event, embodying the spirit of service and unity.
A particularly meaningful moment was the discovery of dried corn from Oaxaca, Mexico — a cultural staple that bears a striking resemblance to culinary traditions in Cameroon. This sparked thoughtful exchanges and a deeper appreciation for the global connections between cultures. The event culminated with the playing of the uplifting song “We Are Proud of Who We Are,” to which ExSSA LA members joyfully danced on the field, spreading positive energy and pride in heritage.
It was a day filled with meaningful service, rich cultural exchange, and heartfelt community connection — a beautiful testament to the power of unity through diversity.
